Set in tranquil surroundings with large landscaped grounds and a picturesque garden terrace with mountain views, Tongariro Crossing Lodge offers uniquely spacious rooms with historic character. Staff were very friendly and full of advice on weather, shuttles, etc for the Tongariro Crossing walk, before and during our visit. The packed lunch provided for the walk really was top quality and more than enough !! Room was very clean and comfortable, while bars/eateries are only a short walk away.

Situated in the heart of Tongariro National Park, Skotel Alpine Resort offers a restaurant, a hot tub and a terrace bar with a fireplace. Most accommodations boast stunning mountain or region views. We stayed in a cabin and used the facilities for breakfast. The barista coffee at the lodge was very much appreciated. The restaurant and bar were perfect after long days of walking. Comfortable and welcoming and catered for everyone in our group.

Plateau Lodge is located 15 minutes’ drive from UNESCO World Heritage listed Tongariro National Park, where guests can enjoy skiing, hiking, cycling and paddling activities. Comfortable and welcoming place, I felt at home and would love to go back there again.

Located in the Tongariro National Park, The Park Hotel Ruapehu offers affordable accommodation in a stunning alpine setting. Guests are provided with free parking and 500MB of free WiFi. Great place, comfortable, very friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast which was worth the extra.

Easy to locate and owner was responsive, friendly and ensure that we settle in well as we arrived quite late.

Set in National Park, Mountain Heights Lodge offers six self-contained motel units and four ensuite B&B rooms, BnB rooms welcomes children over the age of 14 and above. Private parking is free. My husband and our 6-month-old son stayed at the Family Unit at the Lodge on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. The staff were very helpful. We told them we were going to arrive late after the check-in time and they had our room ready and available making it easier for us to settle in once we arrived. The room was clean, spacious, warm, and had a nice view out the back. Housekeeping was also provided daily. There were a lot of clean towels and the bed was so comfortable. The small kitchen had all the basic kitchenware that we needed to prepare our own meals for the 2 days. The location was very convenient for us it's close to the Tongariro crossing and just 20 mins away from the Whakapapa Ski Park which we visited. There is also a convenience shop 2 minutes down the road. We also made a day trip to Lake Taupo and back which was just an hour's drive away. Continental breakfast is also served every morning for $15. Highly recommend the lodge if you're planning a trip to Tongariro or the National Park.
