Located near Serra da Estrela, this 250-year old manor house has historic furnishings and artistic accessories. Each themed room is a reminder of older way of life. We were not aware that Casa das Obras was a 250 year old manor house. It has been sympathetically renovated with beautiful rooms, all with ensuite bathrooms. It has impressive reception areas, and multiple cosy rooms for relaxing. It was centrally heated and spotlessly clean. A magnificent buffet breakfast was included. For warmer weather it has a lovely garden with a swimming pool. The host was on site to greet us, and available throughout our stay for anything we required. We would not hesitate to stay again.

So friendly, funny, helpful and generous. While having a beer on the patio area, I was busy sowing a torn bag I use to carry small items (GPS, Go-pro camera, cell phone holder, cell phone, charging cable,etc) when Marco brought tje beers. Soon after, he arrived with a replacement bag and gave it to me. So thoughtful and I call this generosity of spirit. Restaurant had great food and all the staff were so friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

First of all the responses and replies from Paula and Marcia were excellent, prompt and informative. Never have we seen such quick responses any time of the day...I was -4hr GMT. The apartment was clean and comfortable...All amenities for a comfortable stay was available. .They were there to greet us and explained everything in detail. They arranged a nice, must visit, cheese making factory. The breakfast was excellent. Looking forward to our next trip. Thanks once again Paula and Marcia...you made our New Year Bright! Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay at Solar da Castanha. The location is ideal — just a short drive from the center of Manteigas, yet completely secluded in the forest, offering peace and quiet. The room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. Ilda and Alberto are exceptional hosts who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The breakfast they prepare each morning is delicious, and made with care. We also communicated with their son Pedro via WhatsApp, who gave us great tips and helped with our planning. Note: You’ll need a car to reach the property and to explore the area comfortably – it’s not suitable without one. If you're looking for the perfect base for hiking and exploring the Serra da Estrela — this is the place. Highly recommended! .
