I have stayed at the Avra imperial hotel every year for the past 14 years now and this time I wanted to try the Avra apartments for a change. It was very private, comfortable rooms with mostly local businesses around. You can still use all the facilities in the hotel so I really recommend this option if you want to experience the life in the little fishing village.

Calm, excellent area around the hotel lets your mind relax from the noise of the outside world. The staff is incredibly happy to help with any request. We've spent our 4th anniversary here and enjoyed every moment - from great coffee and wide selection of fresh food at the buffet, to Greek musicians in the evening playing calm, local music. You can walk around in flip flops or barefoot and enjoy the warm weather climate and the tranquility surrounding the property. Perfect escape (also for young adults just like us) for those who aren't into late partying and prefer early, calm mornings with calming sounds of the waves in the background. What's more, the owner of the hotel was there during our stay and he individually made sure with every guest in the morning that everything was fine during their stay. That's the extra touch that we appreciated much and never encountered at any other 5star hotel. The staff is one big family and you can sense that in the air. We've had an excellent stay. Highly recommend to couples in need of a calm and relaxing time off for themselves

The calm setting in the middle of a tiny green village. Cute house, super clean. Very good beds. Lovely cats. Strategic location. About 35min to Chania. 1hr respectively to Elafonisi and Balos. The restaurant next door (the only one) is truly special.

The property is super clean, beautifully kept, great rooms, a nice bar, two lovely pools and across the road to a beach. The staff are wonderful particularly the reception lady who was genuinely interested in your experience and fantastic at making your stay the best. It was my first solo holiday and I booked it by accident. What a Great accident! This trip has given me back the confidence to travel alone. The hotel is geared towards giving you the choice of making friends or enjoying your own company. The people were lovely and I ended up going on a great trip with them. There is a mixture of ages but of course its luck so just go with an open mind as I did. As someone who travels a lot alone but never to a solo hotel it was brilliant to be around like minded people who you could go places with. It’s a little outside of the town which was not a problem at all as it’s a short bus ride anywhere. There is a reason so many people go back and I definitely will as well!!! If you go with an open mind you will have a fantastic time!!!

We had the pleasure to receive one of the best room the hotel has! - first one in line, sea view! The room (an apartment I may say) was large, 2 big rooms and a bathroom. The sea was few meters away - more than great! The hotel has many swimming pools! The restaurant has a lot of food on each one's taste! (Also gluten free) Great variety! Also the shows they have every evening - were great! Our kids loved the Mini Disco Show 😊

Very clean and new looking property, pool right outside the room was great as well. Property was maintained and having a laundry available made it easier to have clothes cleaned without having to pay for laundry.
