The drive to the Castle itself creates this anticipation as you meander through the beautiful countryside. You get this sense that you are travelling back in time. Easy access from Dublin via the motorway, about an hour and straight forward to navigate. The entrance speaks for itself. You will know what I mean when you arrive. The interior could not be presented in a manner more keeping with the castle and the atmosphere. Our room 105 has the best views of the entrance and the garden. I felt like a king for a weekend. The grounds are wonderful and a pleasure to experience with the river passing through the grounds. We enjoyed drinks at the bar, and in front of the roaring fire, a great selection of whiskeys and more. But the one top moment was when the head chief Pavol created what was the most delicious beef dish that I have ever had. Pavol mentioned how excellent Irish beef is but his skills turned it into a moment that my tastebuds probably will never know again. Great selection of wines for every taste. We enjoyed the thermal suite as a nice addition to the experience. The standard of care given by the staff was impeccable and left us with a delight that we had stayed for two nights. One would just not cut it. Enjoy.

Breakfast is very fresh and tasty with lots of choices. The view from the breakfast room is amazing (overview over the golf course). We had dinner in the bar as well and it was very good. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Liked to cleanliness of space of the rooms as well as the design. It feels like a smaller family hotel, but with the quality of a 5 star setup. Will certainly come back if we every end up in this region again.
