Absolutely perfect. A spacious shower with a cascading rain, a bed soft enough to forget the worries of the world, and a breakfast better than anything you might expect in most places, I truly couldn't be happier with our time here. Only back from a wonderful trip to Puglia. We decided to base ourselves in Altamura because my parents come from this wonderful town. We stayed in Luna Federiciana for three nights. We had a wonderful time. The hotel is amazing, very comfortable and extremely clean. We booked the luxury room spa and it was simply beautiful, spacious and extremely comfortable & luxurious. We had our own private entrance, mini bar, large bath and an amazing separate bathroom with a great shower. The staff was excellent, so helpful, and made us feel extremely welcome. I’m celiac and the owner of the hotel made sure I had in the room plenty of gluten free products for my breakfast, with fresh fruit and juices. The location is fantastic, the hotel is so central. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Vetera Matera is an absolute gem and one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. From the moment we arrived, we were amazed by the incredible care and attention to detail that has gone into restoring this historic property. The way they’ve blended the charm and heritage of the old building with elegant, modern interiors and thoughtful design is simply stunning. Every corner feels special, and it’s the kind of place where you just want to sit, take it all in, and enjoy the magical ambience. The location is perfect for exploring Matera, and the valet service made everything effortless. We left our car at their partner parking and were picked up directly, which made the whole arrival experience smooth and stress-free. Even though the hotel is relatively new, it feels like it has been welcoming guests for many years. That is a true credit to the management and the entire team, who were warm, professional, and made us feel so well looked after. The food was outstanding, the cocktails were delicious, and the whole atmosphere was romantic and unforgettable. Relais & Châteaux should be very proud to have Vetera Matera in their collection. We are already looking forward to coming back and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Staying at MOYΣEION felt like stepping back into the world of Magna Graecia. The welcome ritual performed by Davide made the whole experience really special and set the tone for our stay. The service was outstanding, the staff incredibly helpful, and the cave pool was just breathtaking—my friend Pete especially loved the statues surrounding it. The togas, rituals, and attention to detail made the whole visit immersive and memorable. I also recommend booking an Ape Car tour through the front desk when you arrive—it’s the perfect way to explore Matera. Plus, if you call ahead, they’ll even arrange a pickup from the bus station, which is really convenient.
