I have nothing bad to say about this hotel except it might be a little bit hard to reach. We went there by car so for us there were no problem and the hotel offer shuffle busses free of charge from the train station. We booked a room with private onsen and it was perfect with beautiful view over the ocean. The room was spacious, the included breakfast was good, staff was really friendly, we had a great time here. We went here during the low season in the fall/winter but I think it will be really beautiful in the summer as well since they have sitting places outside.

Reopened in April 2017, Shimoda Tokyu Hotel features hot-spring baths, a Japanese and Western fusion-style restaurant and an outdoor pool.

The hotel is very well located and has a very efficient shuttle service from the Kawazu station: we were able to use it to drop our luggages in our room and go back to explore the Kawazu cherry blossom festival! The room is beautiful sea view. Public bath are very pleasant. All the hotel is adapted to children (welcome kits, high chairs, playing area, even the public baths are well equiped for them!). The staff is really nice and helpful. Thank you for this nice stay :)

I stayed in a beautiful japanese-style room on the 2nd floor with private semi-open air bath. The room has all the free amenities you could wish for including toothbrush, hairbrush, beer, snacks, shampoo, socks, etc. and a yukata to wear around. The futon was the most comfortable bed I've slept on, the views from the room & outdoor bath were gorgeous. When I wasn't walking the nearby trails or popping into the town I was relaxing in the room or bath with sake. This was a welcome reset in the middle of an active vacation. This is my second time staying at zagyosoh and I admit a big reason I came back was due to the Japanese restaurant and it did not disappoint! I appreciated the care, attention to detail, service, and most of all the deliciousness. We requested vegetarian and were impressed with the variety in each meal across 2 nights stay.
