After staying at many small Sri Lankan independent hotel / guest houses, from the very north to the south this is undoubtedly the best. One of 2 reviews from me as most other being average: This place is perfectly run, perfectly maintained, great pool and great breakfasts! The evening restaurant offers a mix of Italian and Sri Lankan dishes and after a few weeks traveling nothing beats a homemade Lasagna with a glass of Red! The Beach at 2 mins away is also nr perfect. Even with the rough seas experienced on this coast there is a northern corner that is calm enough to enjoy a good swim. Well done team and Gaby, you run a great establishment. I hope to return with many friends. T

The food was amazing, and the portions of breakfast were very generous. The view from the restaurant is the best I've seen in Sri Lanka so far and the family that run the place are very friendly. The pool was clean and has a sea view, I would highly recommend for anyone looking for some quiet time.

It’s the first place we stayed in Sri Lanka 11 years ago and we fell in love with it that time. It’s so simple but clean, nice staff, healthy food, beautiful beach. Love to return to Talalla and see that the place is untouched and beautiful.

The very quiet Gardens, the lovely breakfasts, beautiful empty beach, lovely pool and courteous attentive staff. We had a gorgeous room with an out door,roll top bath. If you're looking for a quiet beach, this will hit the spot. The waves are strong so probably best for confident swimmers though you won't have to be an Olympian! The main house is also gorgeous with an airy colonial vibe. Evening meals can be taken at the beach restaurant over the road ( not a busy road). The place is gated with a 24hour watch for the security minded. Various swings, hammocks and board games dotted around. Peacocks, bee-eaters, monitor lizards and chipmunks abound. Heard a Coppersmith Barbet but didn't see it. Fruit bats fly over at sunset. Heaven!

With garden views, Serene Villa Hiriketiya is situated in Hiriketiya and has a restaurant and a 24-hour front desk. There is a private entrance at the aparthotel for the convenience of those who stay....

This hotel exceeded my expectations on all fronts. The staff was super friendly, the hotel premises were so beautiful and lush, the pool area is also super lovely and calm, and the breakfast was delicious! I just loved the ambiance of the place and how it was so green... the view from the room's balcony overlooking the jungle was also amazing. The location is great, as it is a short walk to the main Hiriketiya Beach (although it should be noted that it is downhill to get there and uphill to come back), but you really don't realize once you are inside the premises how close to the road you are as it is so calm. I also really liked the fact that the room we stayed in had a kitchenette and a dining table, because even though we didn't use the kitchenette this time, we made use of the dining table by ordering from some neighboring restaurants who delivered the food right to our door. Lastly, we went with two kids, and I really enjoyed the fact that many of the other guests staying at the hotel were also families with kids.

Deep Blue is a private villa offering rooms with boutique style décor in Matara, 500 metres from Polhena beach. It has a private beach area and an outdoor swimming pool.

We choosed this place after two very long flights as we arrived from the other site of the world, Costa Rica. Our choice was based to be able to relax and...this was the best decision ever. The place is super quite, super nice staff, Restaurants are a 5-10 minutes walk and the more turistique place Mirissa is just a 10 minutes drive. This combination was for us just the perfect place to be.

The location is absolutely perfect, located close to the beach and restaurants. No issue with noise at night. Room and bathroom facilities were really great and for the price it really is incredible. Of all the places we have stayed, this has been our favorite. It is a 5 minute walk from the beach and has a beautiful view. The owners helped us with information and good recommendations, the family is a 10. The breakfast is exquisite, fresh and made with love. You can also dine there, if you ask them. They are always available for a conversation and to help you with whatever you need. If I came back, I would stay there without a doubt.

Kalpa Place Hiriketiya features a public bath and free private parking, and is within 700 metres of Dickwella Beach and 6.3 km of Hummanaya Blow Hole.

This home is super beautiful and clean, and the family is very sweet and accommodating. The room gets lots of natural sunlight from windows on two sides, the fan is super strong and refreshing, and the bed is comfortable and complete with a mosquito net. While the bathroom is shared, it's only shared with one other room and it's kept super clean, too!

Reef Edge has free bikes, garden, a private beach area and restaurant in Matara. Featuring a bar, the property is located within 200 metres of Polhena Beach.
