Location was perfect (close to beach and amazing restaurants), staff were incredibly helpful, whole place was super clean and exceptional value for money. All quite basic, but it had everything we needed. The shared kitchen and fridge is also very useful… all in all a great place for a beach holiday!

During our Sri Lanka vacation, we stayed at the Amaranthe Bay Resort for the last two nights. The Junior Suite we booked was spacious and elegant, with the highlight being the Jacuzzi Bath – a perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploration. Adding to its charm, the balcony offered a breathtaking panorama of the surrounding nature, and we were fortunate to witness stunning sunsets over the nearby lake, creating unforgettable memories. Although the resort's large inviting pool was enjoyable, some sharp corners around the area caused minor inconveniences and led to an unfortunate toe injury. Nevertheless, our overall experience remained highly enjoyable. The hotel's convenient location allowed easy access to the ocean and beach, where we found several delightful restaurants for lunch or dinner. Inside the resort, we had the pleasure of dining at their lovely restaurant, offering reasonable prices and a varied, tasty breakfast. The staff was friendly and attentive, and while there was a minor disagreement about the exchange rate during payment, the managers handled the situation with professionalism, swiftly resolving any issues and leaving us with a positive impression of their commitment to guest satisfaction. Amaranthe Bay Resort's well-maintained and peaceful ambiance made our stay perfect. Comfortable bed, really good air conditioning and ceiling fan, clean ensuite bathroom, nice shower with good pressure. The breakfast is amazing. Definitely the nicest breakfast we had in Sri Lanka. Everything cooked fresh each morning (we got a tour of the kitchen to see the food being prepared) Best of all was the staff. Super friendly and helpful, gave us lots of information about yours, restaurants etc. Very helpful organizing whale watching tours and tuk tuks, but not pushy at all about doing tours if we weren't interested. The manager even warned us that whales hadn't been seen recently and if we did the whale watching tour we probably wouldn't see them. He didn't try to sell us every tour and trip etc, just gave us useful and trustworthy information. Amazing value for money.

Perfect place to spend a relaxing holiday at the beach. Beautiful, large, comfortable, and well equipped rooms, excellent service on all departments, beautiful beach, very good restaurant with varied menu. For breakfast (we always took Sri Lankan) and were offered different dishes for each of the three days we spent there. You are out of town and therefore will need transportation to go anywhere. This can be easily arranged through the hotel (that has also a private tuk-tuk), but honestly, apart from a lovely three hours tour of Trincomalee city, the only thing we really wanted was to enjoy the peace and beauty of the resort. Even with heavy rain it was wonderful to sit in the room's veranda. Tip: if you are an early riser you can watch the local fishermen in the process of retrieving the nets with the catch. Fascinating!

This hotel is nestled on Nilavali Beach, a 10-minute boat ride from Pigeon Island. There is no available WiFi, a large outdoor pool and spacious rooms with views of the ocean.
