Extra bonus is the hydrofoil boat that docks outside the hotel that takes you to and from Itsukushima Island. The hotel was the site of the G7 conference in 2023, with lots of photos documenting the summit. The hotel is also used for weddings, and we got to watch the end of a lovely wedding, with the new bride and groom walking up a three-story circular stairway, while the wedding guests applauded the couple from the balconies overlooking the three-story central grand lobby. Just lovely.

Guests can reserve a private open-air hot spring bath with Itsukushima Shrine views. Activities at the hotel include a night cruising tour of the World Heritage Sites. This is a wonderful old-fashioned Japanese style hotel. There are barely any foreign tourists around, so if you are looking for an authentic local experience, this place is a must visit. The private onsens are amazing, but you need to reserve 2-3 weeks in advance.
