Ideally situated in the Yufuin Onsen district, this hotel provides a spa and wellness centre, as well as a hot spring bath. The property is non-smoking and is located 25 km from Beppu Station. This is THE best place in Yufuin. It was really easy to check in. Yes it's a bit further away from the city centre which makes it a bit more difficult to get to if you don't have a car (you can walk it or take a taxi up there) but it has the most epic view of the mountain. There are two onsens that everyone at the hotel can use, but they are effectively private as once you are in them you lock the door and you can have them to yourselves. The water is fantastic. Refreshing and makes you feel very relaxed. I would stay here at the drop of a hat again. Also make sure you walk up to Oogosha shrine (only 5 mins away) where you can get the experience of visiting a HUGE cedar tree temple and a bamboo forest that is 10x better than Arashiyama.

The service was exceptional from the moment I arrived. Niina and Goto at the welcome desk were genuinely warm, attentive, and made check-in feel effortless. Akaki went above and beyond, personally coordinating restaurant and onsen reservations for me throughout my stay — which made a big difference on a busy itinerary. The room was spotless, the amenities were top-tier, and the location was perfect for accessing the rest of Beppu.

A continental breakfast can be enjoyed at the property. There is an on-site restaurant, which serves a variety of Asian dishes. Lovely location. In room onsen was so awesome to have. Views from the balcony were exceptional, mountains, the city and the sea. The food was absolutely gourmet level and was a highlight for us. The staff were warm, friendly and helpful.

Guests can also relax in the garden. We booked the premium room with tatami area. Our room was really spacious and clean. I really liked how there was a private garden in our room—really peaceful and lovely. When we entered the room, we were met with the living room, with a view of the garden where you can spend time on the veranda! There’s also a mini kitchen with cutleries! The dressing room, restroom, bathroom, and the best of them all the PRIVATE ONSEN were separated. (All of the rooms were really big!) There were two bedrooms—one in the tatami room where they laid out the futon for us. I really enjoyed the kaiseki course at their restaurant Matsuhide—each course was carefully crafted and use of local ingredients. And their breakfast was superb! They drove us to the Seikai building—the breakfast buffet had a large variety of Japanese dishes. It was really good too. Sadly, we only booked for a night, so we didn’t get to enjoy their various facilities as much as we’d like (there were the Gahama tower and onsen). Another thing I’d like to mention was the tea ceremony building! Read the history posted in front and was amazed by the historical significance of it!

SEKIYA RESORT Terrace Midoubaru is located a 15-minute drive from JR Beppu Station and boasts guestrooms with a semi open-air bath. Guests can soak in the hot spring bath. Private parking is available for an additional fee.

There is luggage storage space at the property. The property had everything we needed but was still close enough to a convenience store, restaurants and other attractions.

The Seikai provides large public baths and hot tubs on the ground floor and top floor. Spa Sheer Pearl offers ultimate relaxation with delicate massages and treatments. A gift shop and drink vending machines are available on site, and luggage can be stored at the 24-hour front desk for free. Absolutely wonderful! Blissful experience and the staff were very helpful/friendly

Featuring mountain views, hokkein-onsen kougen-terrace is situated in Kokonoe and offers a wellness area with a hot spring bath and a public bath. Boasting a lift, this property also provides guests with a sun terrace. The ryokan also features free WiFi, free private parking and facilities for disabled guests. Big rooms. The breakfast and dinner were both great and affordable. They even had a string quartet playing over dinner which was cool.
