Banteay Srey is such a beautiful place on the countryside of Kampot. I got picked up at Deva's Café from the hosts staff which was already so convenient. The bungalows are beautifully placed around a little pond and have everything you need (including a fan), but my favourite part was the balcony right above the pond where I had breakfast in the morning. Food is always made fresh and differs from the other Khmer food I found on my travels as I found it much more diverse and special! And then the spa experience: it was a unique flow the Khmer lady guided us through, from starting with making our own body mask from different roots, to having a steam bath, massages inside and outside the steam bath, to going into the little spring fed pool to cool down (all accompanied by the perfect hot or cool tea). You leave the place feeling so well taken care of and being a little bit closer to the ancient Khmer culture. Freya and the Khmer ladies were always the nicest, so attentive, warm and comforting. The staff consisted of some of the sweetest people. They always inquired about me and how I was finding the city and made recommendations about places to visit. The rooms were decent and had a good view. The reception staff will help you stay updated if you have booked a bus with Giant Ibis for further travels (which will pick you up from the front of the hotel, if you book tickets on Giant Ibis website; not all hotels are listed but this one is). The property is right on the main road that goes to Phnom Penh.

The Rainforest Hotel really earns the four stars. All staff is extremly friendly and helps with organisation and information. In any respect. We enjoyed the best room. we have had during our long travel through Cambodia!. Especially the beds proofed a lot better, i.e. less hard as in all the other hotels. Breakfast was excellent, asian as well as western.. On the weekend as a bufet in total, during the week partialy a la carte (asian) and bufet (western plus fruit). It is true, that it is a bit too far to walk from the lovely city centre of Kampot. You definetly need a TukTuk to get there or return. That makes 5$ return in total and very easy to organize, but it is worth it, as you enjoy a great and calm stay over night.

Bohemiaz is set in the stunning countryside just 4km from Kampot town. The food, the pools, the sauna, the steam room, the jacuzzi, the close proximity to good yoga, the local village vibe, the friendly expats, the food, the pool, the people. Excellent!
