The eco-friendly Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa - Thema Collection sits on the sandy shores of Passekudah Bay on the east coast of Sri Lanka. The hotel welcomes all new guests with flower necklaces and cool fruit drinks. The breakfast buffet options are numerous. We ordered a la carte lunch & dinner, and the food was always exceptional. (Note, the first night we wanted something that they didn’t have but they ordered it for the second night.) The room was ok, but all rooms come with a comfortable balcony to make up for what the room lacks. Also, the bathroom is about the same size as the room. The beach and the ocean are by far the main reason to come here. The warm ocean water is unparalleled and the hotel staff do a wonderful job keeping their section of the beach clean. The pool area is also nice, but we came for the beach and spent most of our time there. The kid space is lacking, but that’s ok as long as you aren’t there when it rains. Lastly, all the staff we encountered were professional. They helped arrange our departure taxi which actually was rather reasonably priced; meaning same price everyone seems to charge tourists 200 rupees per kilometer (rather than what locals pay which is like 120-150). Overall, I highly recommend staying here.

Set along the beachfront just metres away from the pristine beaches of Pasikudha Bay, Uga Bay - Pasikuda boasts well appointed rooms, a spacious outdoor swimming pool and free Wi-Fi access. No disturbances on the beach at all !! Very seldom you find something like this for yourself only. Very peaceful and great place to stay !! The Sunny weather and sandy beach was a perfect location for our stay ! We prefer privacy for our stay and which we found at Giman Free Beach Resort. Great staff and free wi fi, great sea food straight from the local fisher folk from the daily catch !! We were told there is traditional Ayurveda treatment at the Resort by our friendly UK guest at the Resort but we did not have time to experience same. We will be back next year !!

The location at the lagoon is just beautiful! The resort itself is as well beautifully decorated with chairs and tables and even a swing in front of the lagoon so you can just sit down and enjoy the view, especially for the sunset. The pool is the perfect place to calm down and relax. The bed was very comfortable and the staff friendly. The food was delicious, I really had a great stay here!
