The room and bathroom were spacious, well designed and impeccably clean -- we really appreciated the attention to details and the additional functionality offered by the daybed, the small desk, the armchairs as we were travelling with our tween and also had to do some work while on vacation. The pool was lovely - it is a good size and none of us had red eyes from chlorination. The beach the property opens onto is gloriously clean and we had it entirely to ourselves most of the time. The cafe served up delicious food but their menu offers only a few Sri Lankan dishes. At our request, the kitchen was only too happy to whip up Sri Lankan meals -- prawn and fish curries, traditional coconut sambol, dhals, gotukala salad, okra salad, ridge gourd in coconut milk, star bean stir fry, eggplant gojju, Sri Lankan pancakes with ice cream, watalapam .... these were by far the best meals we enjoyed during the entirety of our holiday and we would heartily recommend visitors to Lankavatara sample the Sri Lankan meals. The staff are very well informed and helpful and did everything they could to make our stay a memorable one -- from organising tuktuks, catamaran rides in the Kalametiya Bird Sanctuary and turtle watching or airport transfers.

Guests at Villa Lyvie ayurvedic hotel will be able to enjoy activities in and around Tangalle, like snorkelling, cycling and hiking. Outdoor play equipment is also available at the accommodation, while guests can also relax in the garden. A beautiful little oasis and a warm welcoming host. Spent 5 relaxing days here and would definitely come back

The accommodation offers a spa centre. Guests at Sleeping Elephant Beach Resort will be able to enjoy activities in and around Tangalle, like cycling. Wonderfully situated property on an incredibly gorgeous beach. Amazing that this high level of accomodation can be offerred in such a remote location. Clean, comfortable with staff eager to please.

Vegetarian, halal and vegan options can also be requested. My wife and I stayed at Lagoon Gate during our short trip to Tangalle. Due to the affordable cost of the lodgings, we were unsure what type or property it would be and what kind of service we would get; however, once arriving, we were very impressed with the property and the staff on site. The rooms are spacious and very clean, complete with a balcony to relax on in the evening. The swimming pool on site is warm and has a great surrounding area. As the property only has 6-8 guesthouses, it is not too overcrowded and an overall peaceful experience if you are looking to relax. For those active guests, kayaks are available to use free of change and gives you a chance to paddle over to the neighboring island to explore the beach (it took us about 25 Minutes in a double kayak). As it is in quite a remote location, there are no options to venture out for meals (unless you have a car); therefore, your only option is dining in the property’s on-site restaurant. This wasn’t a problem tho as the food was fantastic and the service even better. The portion sizes are massive and the owner was always giving us little extras, such as fruit, soup and even a few local spirits. The menu was reasonably priced, with the majority of main meals costing between 7-9 USD and had a fairly wide selection of local and international options. They also have a selection of beer and spirits for those looking to have a few drinks (also a stocked mini bar in your room). Over all, we would give our stay a solid 10/10 as it more than exceeded our expectations, considering the price. Will definitely be back in the future. Mark & Sarah

Vegetarian and gluten-free options can also be requested. Staff is really attentive and helpful. This makes for a really stress free vacation as we did not have to worry about a thing. Food was delicious and always prepared fresh. Beach was as epic as it gets, long and wide sandy strip. Pool was well taken care of and loungers were plenty to be found in shade and in sun. Rooms, although simple, were comfortable and cleaned daily. Location is good, quiet and relaxing.

Vegetarian, halal and vegan options can also be requested. The property is beautiful. Room were big and confortable. We had dinner at the seafood restaurant of the hotel and the food was really gorgeous. Presentation of the dishes were amazing. We really liked it we want to come back as our stay was too short ;)

Among the various facilities are a terrace, a restaurant, as well as a bar. The accommodation provides a 24-hour front desk, airport transfers, room service and free WiFi. Very quiet place compared to other parts of the island. Large room, great terrace, friendly staff, good breakfast! The hotel has a large green area, 5 minutes walk to the beach. We were very tired and did not go to see the turtles, but next to the hotel there is a center where organized tours start every day at 20:30.

The Alpha Monkey hotel & Tree house offers a spa centre. So special place to stay! It is charming! Owner was very kind. They have a restaurant - little bit more expensive, but you can have just coffee in the morning :)

Guests can enjoy a meal at the on-site family-friendly restaurant, which serves Chinese cuisine and also offers vegetarian, dairy-free and halal options. Lovely stay, such a kind and helpful owner. Served us complimentary drinks on arrival and when we arrived back from the safari. He was so helpful with ongoing travel and brought me to the bus station. Room was spacious and clean, would highly recommend staying in this guesthouse.
