Canadian family of four, needing a break (and fresh air) from Bangkok. We had a wonderful time at the Vala and felt welcomed from the second we arrived. I had sent a text ahead of time indicating that I had to follow a very complicated and strict medical diet due to cancer complications. The minute we arrived to our room, a staff member (P’Jib) from the restaurant came to see us and seek details about the diet. I was told that they would absolutely accommodate and they did, for 3 meals a day during the entire stay. The food was wonderful and I felt welcomed by all staff the entire time. To think that I had almost cancelled the trip because of this strict diet, assuming that the hotel would not want or be able to cater to this added complications. This place is a gem, so is P’Jib (I hope I am spelling her name correctly!) and all the staff at the restaurant, the reception desk and the cleaning crew. My only regret is that I wasn’t able to see P’Jib on our final day there in order to hug her one more time and let her know how much her kindness meant to me, (it was more than about the great food), and that her level of empathy for the difficult health journey I was on had been a breath of fresh air.

A variety of wellness packages are available for guests to get rejuvenated in-house. Guests at the apartment can enjoy cycling and fishing nearby, or make the most of the sun terrace. The apartment was pretty spacious and well-equipped, there even was an ability to separate the bedroom area from the kitchen / sofa area by a glass screen. We enjoyed the gym (it's not the best equipped gym in the world, but has a nice atmosphere) and the common area. Also, there is a nice cafe on the beach nearby, as well as a couple of fancy restaurants in the neighbouring hotels. But I'd really like to highlight that the host was great, since he was ready to help us with our request (sending a thing we left at the apartment via post) even after we checked out. He was responsive and polite during our stay as well.
