Only 50 metres from Templarios Castle in Ponferrada, hotel El Castillo offers free Wi-Fi in a perfect setting. It is just by the Camino de Santiago.

A large hotel that still provides a personal touch. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially as I wasn’t feeling well. Great breakfast and lunch, did not eat dinner. Room was large, quiet and had a fantastic bath tub.

Excellent home made food … and excellent value, from friendly and attentive staff. Getting away from it all, and starting a top class hike right from the doorstep without being obliged to get in a car. Lesser known Spain at its best.
