Everything was perfect! We did a road trip through Central Japan and the Fairfield Hotels offered us everything we needed and even more! The Fairfield here in Takayama was one of our favourites!! + rooms are spacious, well designed and equipped. Was the best japanese experience that we have on our trip. The house is very traditional and beatiful, they have also a nice garden. And the best thing was Tai and his family that take care of us, they were very kind, prepared the best japanese breakfast and help us with everything.

As the previous reviews suggested, it’s a very unique experience to wake up with a view of woods that could only be imagined or seen in movies. Best still, it was covered with snow the 2D1N I visited. The room, the setup and the view kind of present itself. I opted for dinner and breakfast, I’m glad I did. The food was exceptional, it went down a treat. The host has a great selection of wines too! It’s a 10/10 experience for me.

The staff was really friendly, even though they didn't speak English. They accommodated our late check in and helped with luggage forwarding (to the next hotel). The hot baths were also really nice and open late!

The hotel retained the charm of small town Japan , whilst still providing a very comfortable stay. They have a regular shuttle service to the station for free. The onsen was a great plus and overlooked the river which was simply beautiful. The hotel also had ebikes for rent and the staff was amazingly helpful. I would highly recommend the place and would definitely stay there again.

This stay was one of my favorites during our trip to Japan. What made it so special was the attention to detail from the people at the reception. When we arrived, it was so cute to see our names on the banners outside to welcome us. I appreciated that, even though I have many tattoos covering my body, they allowed me to participate in the hot baths. They were very attentive and always present to anything we needed (umbrellas, adaptors for electrical sockets, extra towels, etc.). The location was close to everything, and since we did not have a car, it helped us a lot with getting around the area. When we checked out, they were so kind that they kept our bags till our next bus left in the afternoon. We spent only two nights here, but next time we wish to stay longer! Thank you for all.

    We enjoyed our stay at SOY, the hosts Tai & Nobuko made us feel extremely welcomed, Tai was generous and punctual with providing shuttle service to and from town which was great given the location of the house being further away from the city center. The atmosphere of SOY was exceptional, we got to slow down and appreciate our surroundings which gave us the much needed reset to our busy itinerary. We hope the cat Tama is feeling better since we last saw her!

    A budget hotel that offers nothing fancy but it was convenient, clean, warm, and comfortable. The location was superb right opposite the train station. There were minimart and restaurants around. A good place to stay if you visit Takayama central and don't want to burn your budget on accommodation.
