First time staying at the Japanese guest house, and this perfect one set my standard sooo high! Truly felt welcomed when we arrived. The house is cozy and stylish with a beautiful garden view. My family and I got our own private zone which is so peacful and got every thing we want in there. There is also a movie projector in the bedroom with plenty of DVDs to enjoy. The bed is just the way I like, quite firm and very comfortable. I have a good night’s sleep after long day of travel. Tai san and his family are very kind and helpful. The Japanese breakfast and complimentary Hojicha are truly impressive. This place gave us a wonderful experince of staying in Takayama. One of my favorite stays so far. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed my stay! The room I was in was very comfortable and had a shower. I was sleeping very well. You have a kettle and fridge in the room as well as a little desk with a TV. All was exceptionally well maintained. The hotel manager was very nice, speaks fluent English and had great advice for browsing around town and entertainment and going out for food. Will definitely come again when I am in the area next time. :-)

    We enjoyed our stay at SOY, the hosts Tai & Nobuko made us feel extremely welcomed, Tai was generous and punctual with providing shuttle service to and from town which was great given the location of the house being further away from the city center. The atmosphere of SOY was exceptional, we got to slow down and appreciate our surroundings which gave us the much needed reset to our busy itinerary. We hope the cat Tama is feeling better since we last saw her!

    A budget hotel that offers nothing fancy but it was convenient, clean, warm, and comfortable. The location was superb right opposite the train station. There were minimart and restaurants around. A good place to stay if you visit Takayama central and don't want to burn your budget on accommodation.
