Hotel Gjirokastër is located 300 metres from the centre, in a part of town famous for numerous museums. The family that runs the hotel are super helpful and nice. The location of the hotel is perfect, next to the bazar and the castle. The breakfast was great, homemade and with traditional food.

We loved verything but to give some more detail. The location is the high ground of the village which affords a fantastic view of the river, mountains, and town below. The air is so fresh and clean and the cicadas in the surrounding trees bring you back to nature. Our room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom is done in marble and I love the window with insect screen. As with most bathrooms in Albania, they are considered wet rooms with the shower open. The shower was lovely and hot with a constant temperature. The bed was super comfortable and I am particular with this as I have a difficult back. There is a good TV to watch, however, after a night out and a few Raki drinks, I was soon asleep. The windows are sound proof so it's super silent for a great night's sleep. The hotel is a family-owned enterprise so they all work together to make your stay perfect. Breakfast was €6 and was a traditional Albanian breakfast. My husband loved the Khorba which is a bread soup. Served with homemade yogurt and good coffee. We enjoyed our first night with dinner on the verandah. I loved the homemade cornbread. It had spinach and basil and I ordered seconds. I was introduced to the local wine which the English would say is very quaffable. I adored the homemade local dessert made with honey, ginger, and nuts. A must to try in Permet. There is parking right outside the hotel. The town is very close by and so are the thermal baths which we enjoyed. The owner gave me a bottle of Permet Merlot wine as a farewell gift. This is typical of Albanian hospitality and kindness. We would definitely stay here again.

Located in a quiet residential area, yet very central – just a few minutes' walk to the bazaar and city center. While no breakfast is served on-site, there's a charming inner courtyard perfect for relaxing with your own drinks. The rooms were beautiful, modern, and spacious. Highly recommend!
