Alma Hotel - Boutique hideaway by the lake with rooftop and ladies-only wellness enjoys a quiet location in a 19th-century building just 100 metres from Lake Zurich and near several tram and bus... The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Our room was spot on - clean, spacious and perfect for what we needed. We loved the location - close to the lake, the centre, the tramline, and with a couple of supermarkets close by. The roof terrace was a great bonus. Breakfasts were delicious and, particulary for the 2 of us who are vegan, offered plenty of choice. We also made use of the self catering facilities, which were great. We loved the extra touches too - free water and apples, welcome icecreams, and free coffee throughout the day. If we do come back to Zurich, without a doubt we will stay at Alma.

Hotel Wartmann is located in the centre of Winterthur, 50 metres from the train station and a 2-minute walk from the Old Town. It's very clean. The beds are very comfortable. I had a really nice view of the train station, so I relaxed before bed by watching the trains go by. For people who don't enjoy hearing the trains go by, the window holds the sound well and the AC works well, so you don't have to leave the window open. It's very accessible to Zurich (>30 minutes to the main station) and other places thanks to the excellent SBB train services. Check in after reception hours is also easy. In my room there was also one Schuko (type F) outlet along with the swiss ones (which do fit two pronged europlugs). So fitting high power EU electronics should be fine, there was also a note about adapters being available at the reception for a deposit. I plan on staying again sometime in the future.
