The room is very beautiful, clean and there is all you need for a comfortable stay. Ji is amazing. I highly recommend a short or longer stay at the Ji Family Courtyard Inn.

At the same time, the bedrooms are well inside and away from the main street so that one can enjoy a perfectly noiseless night of sleep. Most importantly, the whole staff and especially the onwer are EXTREMELY kind, trustworthy and helpful: they even helped us shipping a bulky shopping item we bought in Pingyao to Italy. Absolutely recommended to any traveller and will 100% come back here next time I will visit Pingyao.

Set in Pingyao in the Shanxi Region, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Xiangshengyuan Hostel features a terrace and views of the city. This is a family-run hotel with the whole family pitching in. They were delightful and keen to be helpful with lots of cups of tea, advice and assistance with purchasing tickets. It felt like I was staying with friends. Very little english, but fearless with using translation apps. Very thoughtful - gave me a bottle of water for the train home after dropping me at the station. The standout for this property was the staff. I wish them every success with their business.

The host is incredible, going out of her way to make certain guests are cared for. She helped us know where to visit in the expansive area is Wutai mountain. When we had trouble with entrance into the resort area, she came to the front to help us work through the registration difficulties; we asked about seeing a sun rise and she arranged a trip the took us to a gorgeous pilgrimage site; she arranged a shuttle service that took us directly to the airport for a lower cost than bus service and taking 3 hours less time - really a remarkable host. Meanwhile she’s also hosting other guests and running the restaurant. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and adorable with a beautiful tea table set in a window. The room was always ready with water, snacks and tea. Staying at this location allowed us to enjoy the area of Wutai mountain to the fullest extent possible.
