We arrived late at night, and although the reception was unattended, they had left the keys for us along with a note explaining that we could complete the check-in process and make payment the following morning.

Dolomiti Lodge Villa Gaia is an eco-friendly property in the small town of Venas, offering beautiful views of the Dolomites. It's amazing, good value for money. The staff are so nice . Would love to come back again

A mediaeval building overlooking River Isarco in the centre of Chiusa, family-run Walther von der Vogelweide offers alpine-style rooms and a restaurant with vaulted ceilings. A beautiful hotel located in a quiet village approximately 27 minute drive by car to Ortessi to visit Alpe de Suiss and Seceda. The breakfast was amazing and a perfect way to start a busy day hiking. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times and the food was really good. If you are happy to stay in a quiet town I would recommend a stay here, it is definitely value for money as the standard of the room was excellent. It is very quaint and nice to wander round. We would definitely return.

About 3 km from Bolzano, Eggentaler is a 3-star hotel 15 km from the Carezza and Latemar ski slopes. It offers an outdoor pool, sun terrace and free ski storage. Probably the best hotel I've experienced. The aesthetic, quality of decor and fittings, cleanliness, upkeep are immaculate. Comfortable like home. The location next to a bubbling river, surrounded by forested hills, is refreshing. The breakfasts are brilliant, and the dinners are out of this world (though prepare to pay). The staff are on the ball, friendly, and professional.

Just 700 metres from the centre of Dobbiaco, Hotel Rosengarten features a traditional restaurant and views of the Dolomites. This family-run hotel offers a free shuttle to Dobbiaco Train Station. The room was gorgeous, we loved the sauna and the towels folded in the shape of a Swan was a lovely touch. We had dinner in the hotel which was delicious, but the best part was the breakfast with a machine that freshly pressed orange juice and other fruit and vegetable smoothies freshly made. The buffet was very rich with sweet and savoury items, we loved it!

The service was excellent and very friendly, the room was nice, we ate at the hotel each night, there was a choice of starters mains and sweets, for a set price depending on how many courses you chose, (very reasonable priced, only €21 for full 3 course plus salad/veg) we had salad all three nights along with either a starter or main, 1st night pasta with venison ragu👍then pork wrapped in parma ham 👌lastly pasta with pesto😁 table wine was nice & very reasonable at €12, also loved the pinot grigio, which is my tipple, along with a few limonchello's and aperell sprites. The bar closed at 10pm but you could sit and enjoying your drinks in the lounge until whenever. We was on motorbikes and there was ample parking space in the garage and loads of fabulous roads /passes to go on, we didn't use the spa as we went out on our bikes, I would definatly recommend this as a place to stay.

The Hotel Sachsenklemme is located on the A22 Brenner motorway and the SS12 Brenner road, 5 km north of Franzensfeste. Really cool place just on the side of the autostrada. Perfect stop on our road trip. Good pizza place and good breakfast. .
