Having been to Izumo before and knowing it would not disappoint, I decided to take my family for another vacation in January. We stayed at Nipponia Izumo - Hirata Cotton Road for three nights. It is a former traditional sake brewery house converted into a kominka style hotel. Situated on a quiet historical sake and soy sauce business street, the hotel not only provided a unique home sweet home service but also amazing fine dining experience. Their in-house chef made each meal using local products to create feasts that delighted the senses. I highly recommend this hidden gem of an accommodation if you do visit Izumo.

The food was exceptional, the service and hospitality were outstanding, the room was very large and beautiful and I really regret that I had to leave again. Next time I will surely stay longer! I don’t speak any Japanese but everybody was really kind and polite and took good care of me. It exceeded my expectations by far!

Fantastic stay next to Izumo station, spacious and clean room, comfortabla bed and very quiet for good night sleep. Friendly crew with free drinks and late night freshly made noodle dish. The onsen/wellness space on the top floor and the massage chair are heaven, really nice place to spend time in Shimane-ken and relaxing holiday.

I remember the location was near a train station which made it lively and interesting when we were looking for dinner. The staff were very helpful in helping us find a suitable restaurant. breakfast was good!

The room was larger than the usual business hotel and had a small couch and table too. There were four clothes hangers, and there was a top sheet on the bed as well as the usual comforter. A good breakfast and a nice public bath were also provided.
