The perfect home base for a Yala safari. I couldn’t recommend it more!

Offering a year-round outdoor pool and barbecue, The Coconut Gardens Hotel & Restaurant is located in Tissamaharama, 900 metres from Tissa Wewa. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. Hotel is really nice. Very comfy room! Our kids enjoyed pool! We stayed for one night before our safari trip to Yala park. It takes about 30 min drive to park entrance.

The location is very quiet, within walking distance of the smaller lake and a 5-minute drive to Tissa lake. It is a good base to explore the area. I also booked 2 safari's with them. Everything was well-organised, from start to finish.

It's a fruit/chicken farm located on a lake shore. We stayed in detached cottage, and it was spacious and comfortable.

Great room,very clean and comfortable.Mahanma was a proper gentleman,very attentive and also booked us a Safari to Yala NP. He took us to a local spot where hundreds of fruit bats gathered in a massive tree and at sundown they all start flying around.It was an awesome sight.He also helped us with a Driver/Guide for our onward journey.Special thanks to Sahoni I hope I’ve spelled it correctly.She speaks good English and was there for us whenever we needed.Overall we had a lovely stay at Owin Rose.👌🏻

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Gaga Bees Yala! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and outstanding hospitality. The place itself is beautiful—peaceful surroundings, tastefully designed, and perfect for a relaxing getaway close to nature. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home. One highlight was how they customized our dinner menu to suit my wife's cravings—something that truly made our stay extra special. The food was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner and his wife, two incredibly humble and kind people who genuinely care about their guests' experience. The Yala safari they arranged for us was fairly priced—much better than other quotes we had—and it was one of the best parts of our trip. Everything was well organized and enjoyable from start to finish. Highly recommend Gaga Bees Yala to anyone looking for comfort, authenticity, and outstanding service near Yala National Park. We’ll definitely be back!

The facilities are nice, the swimming pool a dream after a morning on safari. What makes Tara special is the Staff. Keshan was wonderful! He noted that I like Cassava chips and went out specially to buy them to pack in my 5am safari breakfast! I was touched by his kindness. We took a cooking course with Kesham who is a professional chef, he explained everything in detail, including the chemical reaction of certain spices and why salt is added last to some dishes. We learnt a lot and bought a coconut grater at the market so we could make some of the dishes at home. Thank you Kesham and all the staff at Tara! I would recommended Tara Watergate!

Lovely hotel with everything you might need in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful design, comfy, clean and tidy, amazing views from the balcony (exceptionally serene atmosphere), air conditioning works well, spacious bathroom and shower. Pool is clean and inviting. Absolutely love that the hotel provides everything: food, water etc. Restaurant is good, food is delicious and portions are huge. Personnel was nice and friendly. We also booked safari with the hotel. It was awesome. The only thing we didn't like was how much more wore down our Jeep was compared to all the others. But the driver was very thorough with showing us all the animals and stunning views, so we were happy with our safari at the end. The included breakfast was tasty and plentiful as well.
