Located in Auckland, Three Palms Lodge offers modern rooms with free WiFi and parking. Hunters Plaza, located next door can provide some retail therapy. When we travel, we generally pick simple places that meet the following criteria - clean, good hot water supply, good wifi, the option to make tea and a basic breakfast in the morning, and ideally quiet. This motel met all of those! It's also a 5-minute walk to the main street where you can get a bus that'll get you to the metro station or to an Airport Link bus station. In addition, there's a Countdown grocery store around the corner and a variety of places to eat - although the majority will be Indian fare. Being vegetarian, that was perfect for us.

Surrounded by picturesque gardens, Sun Valley Motel offers free WiFi in public areas. It is within 2 minutes’ walk of a range of shopping and dining options. The rooms are big and offer all you need for an overnight stay. The bed is big and everything is very clean. Yet there is a bit of a old smell from the carpet. The parking is right in front of your room, which is very handy. The self check in is supposed to work smoothly, but as we booked last moment we didn't get the code in time and had to wait for about half an hour in front to get a new code. They were nice and let us check out 30min later.

Half Moon Bay Motel offers free private parking and well-equipped studios and apartments. It is located just 5 minutes' walk from the Half Moon Bay Ferry Terminal. Access to walking trail near the property and several good restaurants. Great tub to soak in. Quiet location.
