We even extended our stay by one more night, had to move to a room in the main building due to availability, and that was fine too, although the rooms have no fridge. Nice beaches and supermarket nearby, within a short driving distance.

Stakaberg Konferens & Gårdshotell's origins date back to the 19th century and accommodation is available in both the main building and the renovated former stable. The double rooms have their own entrance towards the stable yard and a beautiful garden right outside. The breakfast was great. Stakaberg is in the countryside, which we prefer during summertime. We loved the beautiful outdoor areas for breakfast.

Apelvikstrand Strandhus offers modern, self-catering holiday homes next to Apelvik Beach, 3 km south of central Varberg. Each accommodation has a furnished patio, kitchenette and flat-screen TV. Varberg Fortress is 3.2 km away. There was really nothing not to like. I did experience a little difficult checking in as it was late and dark, and signage leaves a little to be desired. I have to take partial blame though, as if I had read my emails properly I would have realised there was an app to download that helped matters. The cottages are unpretentious but very nice, the location is unbeatable if scenery is your preference, and I had the good fortune to visit in the off-season making my stay great value. I fully expect the prices to be dramatically different in the high season though.
