Calm escape in the middle of summer. First of all I wanted to say that my explanations where much more below real picture. The house is completely furnished and has all you need. It is ancient, made of stones with renovation according to traditions in this area: the overall experience felt like owners put their hart in this project. It is quite tiny, but has two big bedrooms with a queen size beds, in a living room there is a sofa bed, which you could also use for sleep. In the kitchen there is a table where you can sit and eat, also it has a unique old fire stove. We arrived at an extremely hot days, and at night left doors and windows open, it felt locompletely safe there. It was the only hot night and in general all other time you could find a place in shade of trees or just on a stone stepladder in a tiny backyard (ideal place for a evening glass of wine). Another gem is the natural pool on another level of the land, you could pass by foot to it (5 mins walk) and it’s really beautiful designed natural pool with a flowers and garden area around. Eucalyptus and oak trees around are pretty high, so you could always stay in shade of trees. There are wooden chairs and table so you could have a picnic there. Incredible! The most important part of this place is people. The owner is really kind, all the people who work in this land are friendly and welcoming, respectful to your needs. Quick and easy communication, perfect knowledge of three languages: Portuguese, French and English. It was just three nights but felt like a week at least. I would definitely recommend the place.

Very cozy house with great view outside. House is well equipped with all needed even for a long rest, especially kitchen. Beds are comfortable, all facilities are clean. Fireplace is amazing, owner supplied enough wood to have it almost all the night.

    The host and his family are exceptionally warm and inviting. Their family estate, which houses the accommodations is exquisite - beautiful gardens, rustic, yet modern accommodations, a sparkling pool and just excellent hospitality in a UNESCO World Heritage city. Hugo - who works with Jose, the owner of Villa Margaridi, is a GEM! He is always available to assist in anyway and is just as warm and pleasant as his employers. We cannot wait to come back to this amazing oasis in Portugal.

    Absolutely everything, villa margaridi has a gentle old world charm and elegance combined with designer inspired accommodation. You will not find a better host in jose and his manager Hugo.We have never, in all our travels, found anywhere so relaxing as Villa Margaridi, and the port was pretty good too!

    A magical place to stay, would come back with pleasure! The villa we stayed in was so charming, renovated with taste. Very comfortable, luminous and spacious. Loved having breakfast in our private terrasse. Jose welcomed us with an insightful tour of the historical garden and shared with us his story. Discovering places like this and meeting people like Jose is the reason why we love to travel. Thank you to Jose and Hugo for all the attentions that made the difference.

    We had excelent breakfast and fresh bread was delivered to our villa every morning. We loved learning about the history of the estate and the people who lived there through the centuries. The estate and the gardens were magnificent, and the villas were beautifully decorated. The service provided by Jose, the host, was wonderful and Villa Margaridi should become a destination for everyone visiting Portugal.

    Our stay was fantastic, the garden and grounds are beautifully maintained. It is located within walking distance (20-25 minutes) of the historic centre. The villas are very comfortable and José and Hugo are the most helpful and personable hosts I've ever met anywhere I have stayed.
