Convenient parking, a great layout and the open air bath was stellar. Excellent host, great location and a one of my favorite stays in my last trip to Japan.

We arrived after our chilly hike along the trail to a very warm and inviting traditional home. It was stocked with tea, coffee and drinks in the fridge, as well as some snacks. There were so many different areas to sit and relax in the home, we felt soo welcome and at home we did not want to leave. This was a stark contrast to our Air bnb we had in Kyoto where we felt we could not relax or enjoy the property. The sleepy town was fun to explore, the cafe next door was also very warm and welcoming filled with music and warmth. And the beds!! Being 6 months pregnant I was a little worried about the traditional futons on the floor but it was the best sleep I has the whole 3 weeks in Japan. I also appreciated the number of chairs for me to sit in. Overall a very enjoyable and relaxing stay, we wish we could have stayed longer.

The tatami mats and Japense futon bedroom setup really helps to immerse you in the culture. There were barbeques both inside and outside with a covered patio. There was plenty of space with a large tub bathroom with shower head. It was a great setup for a vacation. A laundromat and family mart (chain convenience store) were down the road, making it very practical to get things you need.

You are staying in a museum in the middle of all the action. Great location. About 12 min walk to train station. Comfortable beds with good amenities. Good in-home cinema section. Truly a unique experience.

It is extremely comfortable, lovely futon beds, a great shower, separate toilets, air con. We had a memorable stay and I would highly recommend. The owner also let us keep our luggage in the lobby after check out while we went to a cookery class.

We arrived late in the evening, and the owner kindly placed a welcome sign outside the garage to guide us. The four-bedroom house was spacious enough to comfortably accommodate our group of six. It has a unique style and character, yet feels tidy, clean, and very homely—perfect for a small group gathering. The location is convenient, with several great dining options nearby. One highlight was Yamayu Ushi Ikkan, just a 5–15 minute drive or walk away. Because of the language barrier, the owner and team graciously helped us make a reservation there, and the dinner turned out to be one of the most unforgettable meals of our trip. We also visited a local farmers’ market, where the people were warm and welcoming, adding to the charm of our stay. Overall, this house offered both comfort and authenticity, making our time in Japan truly memorable.

Renovated in 2015, IORI Stay HIDA offers accommodation in Hida. This traditional Japanese-style townhouse boasts designs with both modern and traditional Japanese influence. The property is spotless and cosy, super comfortable and had everything you need
