We arrived after our chilly hike along the trail to a very warm and inviting traditional home. It was stocked with tea, coffee and drinks in the fridge, as well as some snacks. There were so many different areas to sit and relax in the home, we felt soo welcome and at home we did not want to leave. This was a stark contrast to our Air bnb we had in Kyoto where we felt we could not relax or enjoy the property. The sleepy town was fun to explore, the cafe next door was also very warm and welcoming filled with music and warmth. And the beds!! Being 6 months pregnant I was a little worried about the traditional futons on the floor but it was the best sleep I has the whole 3 weeks in Japan. I also appreciated the number of chairs for me to sit in. Overall a very enjoyable and relaxing stay, we wish we could have stayed longer.

This cozy unit is located relatively close to shops and also the morning market. Ruili the owner was really nice and welcoming, he even offered us a lift to and fro the train station seeing as I had a toddler and my father in law had trouble walking. Ruili even invited us over to his home for tea which was really nice, thank you for your hospitality Ruili :)

The building was previously a museum, so you’ll be experiencing the local culture right in your home. We literally stayed in the old city—just one street away—yet it was a quiet and authentic area. There were nice cafes, restaurants, and a grocery store just around the corner. The house was warm in the winter and tidy. Highly recommend!

We spent a few days here in winter when outside temperatures were as low as -7°c, but we were warm and cozy inside, including in the bedrooms. We especially enjoyed the bathtub which faced out onto the snow-covered garden. Even though we had a car, the location was perfect to walk around the canals and old streets. The bento breakfast delivered every day was both gorgeous and delicious. We'll be staying again!

The guide from the host meant it was easy to find the property, and perfect house for our family to stay in, including a toddler.

Renovated in 2015, IORI Stay HIDA offers accommodation in Hida. This traditional Japanese-style townhouse boasts designs with both modern and traditional Japanese influence. Hida is a magical little town and this lovely apartment is the perfect base. It is situated along the canal, beautifully designed with traditional decor and modern amenities. A gorgeous breakfast is delivered each day, and the host is more than generous with helpful advice and special treats. We didn’t want to leave!

The Hotel is modern, clean and equipped in a very high level. Jackson (the staff member that welcomed us) was super helpful, responsive and nice.
