The bathroom and kitchen have been updated (the wooden bathroom smells amazing). There are modern toilets. But the rest is original Edo style. It's a great place to use as a base for a roadtrip around the Kiso River Valley. You just feel like you're in another time. I absolutely loved it, and would stay here again.

Resembling a Swiss chalet in the Japanese Alps, Landhaus Dancru Netz is steps away from the free shuttle to local ski resorts. The hotel features a garden and free Wi-Fi. The owners were extremely sweet. There was a language barrier but they were patient and very helpful. The ryokan was extremely clean and well-maintained. I loved the German theme throughout the entire place. I also loved how the shower room was a private room, even though it was technically shared. The rooms were spacious and it was convenient to have a sink inside the room.
