We loved our stay here. The team led by Milan were kind friendly and courteous. Our room was extra large and the bed sublime. The pool area was cute and clean and a wonderful place to cool off. The gardens were lovely. We enjoyed being away from the chaos of Negombo town. Breakfast was exceptional. The very noisy air conditioner and ceiling fan were the only minor negatives.

Run by a local family, Villa Shade is a charming and peaceful property surrounded by green gardens, just 4 km from Negombo City. Bicycles are available for rent, while traditional Sri Lankan breakfast is served upon request at an extra cost. Beautiful garden with home grown fruits, the staff is out of his way to assist, the room is perfect and the swimming pool is an amazing treat! Great breakfast and very quiet, calm vibes. We wish we could stay longer.

Everything was thoughtfully arranged to make us feel comfortable and relaxed during our stay. Each morning, we enjoyed a thoughtful and delicious breakfast, lovingly prepared with a variety of options to suit everyone in the family. The attention to detail and care in each meal was something we truly appreciated. What made our stay truly unforgettable, though, was the incredible kindness and hospitality of the owner’s family. They were always ready to help with anything we needed and went out of their way to make sure we were happy and comfortable. A very special thank you to their beautiful three girls, whose warmth, smiles, and gentle presence made our visit even more memorable. They are a lovely family that we will never forget. The Travellers Rest is more than just a place to stay—it’s a place filled with heart. We’re so grateful for the experience and would absolutely love to return one day.
