When my driver edged up the narrow-inclined driveway of this very modern home, I didn’t know what to expect. But Pearle and her husband Ranjan greeted me with broad smiles and open arms. After they had retired, they built this sophisticated home on their family’s property. Since the terrain of Matale is mostly mountainous, their home is perched up high on a small hill, allowing a beautiful view of the city from their wide terrace. Communication was swift and efficient as their daughter fielded email questions from the UK. English was spoken perfectly by all members of the family, so no worries for any miscommunication. I had arrived in the late afternoon and Pearle offered me tea. Ranjan returned with some short eats and we sat around chatting. The conversation was easy and I felt like I was visiting good friends for the afternoon. My room was located just off their living room with an adjacent bathroom with contemporary fixtures – it felt like I was in a fancy hotel! The stylish room with extremely high ceilings was spacious and tastefully decorated with an enormous mosquito net tied with ribbons around the large four poster bed. There is a portable air conditioner/fan which was not really needed as the evenings are usually cool and temperate. Breakfast was a luxurious feast with red rice string hoppers, potato curry, dal, green gram and a delicious, spicy chicken curry. Watermelon, pineapple, and sweet juicy papaya from their garden rounded out the meal. After retirement, Pearle turned her interests to cooking and she is certainly an accomplished cook! My only regret was staying only one night and will certainly come back for a longer visit!

The room was clean and comfortable, the people were very friendly and helpful. We didn't see many bugs considering that we were in the jungle. Our stay was very pleasant, the breakfast was very good.

Had an amazing stay at Lotus Eco Villa. First of all the tree house is just awesome. It’s clean, spacious and it has all the amenities one might need. Secondly, being located in a side road, makes it a nice and quiet location as well. Thirdly, the breakfast including coffee, toast, eggs, pancakes and fresh fruits was delicious. All in all a highly recommended accommodation to stay at if you’re planning to visit Sigiriya!!

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and they contributed to making our stay in Sigiriya absolutely fantastic. They helped us organizing different activities during our stay. We would recommend this hotel!

I like that the property was absolutely clean and tidy. I like that there were provided essentials in the room, such as water, teakettle, coffee and tea, toothbrush, hair cap,body wash and shampoo! I like that it had hot running water and an AC along with Wi-Fi that never failed.

What a fantastic find. The Sigiriya Eco Tree House is a sanctuary in the jungle away from the typical tourist haunts found at famous destinations such as Sigiriya. Asitha and his wife were so welcoming and provided such a great service and experience for amazing value. The Tree House is private and secure and all the local sites and restaurants are accessible with Asitha's tuktuk if you plan ahead with him and give hunk some notice. Would definitely stay here again if ever in Sigiriya in the future.
