We like the fact that we could've brought the dog. and were it not for the fact we were visiting and eating with our daughter, we would certainly have used the restaurant. We found the reception staff friendly and helpful.

Open-plan and open-minded, Cambridge is best known for university colleges dating to the 13th century. King’s College is the most popular, and its chapel choir is internationally famous. Although accessed from cobbled King’s Parade, it is best viewed from a punt on The Backs, the part of the River Cam behind.
Cambridge punting is an institution and gives great views of Queen’s College Mathematical Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs at St John’s College. Upstream is Jesus Green, site of an outdoor pool and a fantastic beer festival. Next to this is Midsummer Common, a park home to the annual Strawberry Fair (and the occasional cow). Opposite are the college boathouses - get up early to see the rowers in action!
Cows also roam the Mill Pond meadow, where the river leads south to Grantchester, a quaint village with a lovely cafe. Places to eat in Cambridge include riverside restaurants and typical English pubs like The Eagle, drinking hole of DNA founders Watson & Crick.
Cambridge shopping options include a daily market (in Market Square), the Grafton Centre and the exclusive Grand Arcade, the latest addition. The Scott Polar Museum and free Fitzwilliam Museum are 2 of many fantastic Cambridge museums.
Stansted Airport is connected by train to the city’s accommodation choices on Booking.com.

Excellent CAMRA Beer Festival on Jesus Green ... and good pubs abound! Fantastic University Library and exhibition (Murder by the Book: A Celebration of 20th Century British Crime Fiction 23 March – 24 August 2024), and Tea Room; buses confusing and no system map; a handheld legible tourist map would be good (the one in the BID Summer in Cambridge booklet was illegible).

We loved Cambridge and the beautiful architecture and streets. We visited the David Attenburgh museum of zoology, so much to see and so interesting. Parked our car in the Grand Arcade which leads to the large shopping mall.
Plenty of places to eat around the old streets. It was raining so we didn’t go far on foot. Well worth a visit!

Beautiful area with amazing buildings!
Beautiful area with amazing buildings! Easy to walk everywhere. Lots of cafes to find something to eat, and this includes the market. Many green areas. Perhaps if a taxi is required, pre book it as mine did not arrive. Lots of lovely shops if you wish to go shopping, including ice cream shops.
Worth going on a punt tour as you learn so much and all questions are answered with detail. You get to see the other view of the colleges and various bridges that you cannot see due to colleges being closed to visitors as students are studying.

Lunch in Fitzbillies was amazing, again lovely staff and the food was the best I’ve had in a while.
Books shops and art galleries a plenty which meant we run out of time before seeing the 39 steps at the arts theatre. A brilliant day.

Punting down the river recommended especially the historical side and banter . Cambridge Punt Company.
Private tour of the area with universities, good hour and half of walking and seeing the sites learning history of Cambridge. Very knowledgeable, different tours some are very different, choices depends on money and what you want to do. Pre booking needed .
Botanical Gardens amazing definitely a must to see, beautiful and quite stunning.
Fantastic location - steps from the river, close to city centre, providing easy access to the whole of Cambridge (I walked over 60 miles during my stay!)
Free parking is fantastic. Able to park in a secure location, mere steps away from the accommodation.
Excellent standard of accommodations, clean, modern. Bathroom lovely, toiletries really nice.
Really appreciated all the personal touches - provision of tea, coffee, milk, butter, cooking oil, bread, pasta etc.
Seb who met me with the keys was charming and helpful.
A great 3 day break. Staff excellent (special mention to Phoebe ... first class) and hotel really clean. Great location. Easy access to Cambridge city centre ... either pleasant walk by the river or 5 minute train ride from Cambridge North. Seen other reviews mention issues with parking ... there are no issues. Car park is easy to find and right by the hotel ... I could see the car from the hotel room! Would definitely stay at Novotel again and consider taking bikes ... Cambridge set up for family cycling.
We have stayed at this hotel many times over the ten years that we were associated with Cambridge University. The hotel has an exceptional location, close to the best parts of town, but also close to the river and Jesus Green. It feels like home away from home. Unexpectedly, this time we also had a balcony which was much appreciated and had excellent views. Had a lovely celebratory meal at Six Brasserie. We also really like the roof top bar.
Amazing location - just a 5 minute walk to Jesus Green. Our host Wei was very accommodating (eg letting us store our roadbikes in the bedroom, and last minute late-checkout). The rooms were comfortable and had everything we needed. In my opinion a much better option for a short stay in Cambridge than a hotel - cheaper, better location, and just as good facilities! We will definitely be returning
Excellent location. Very central, yet also one of the best districts of Cambridge.
Very professional and friendly staff.
Superb spacious room with very good room facilities.
The historic and characterful buildings of the hotel. An especially pleasing aspect of all Hotel du Vin hotels.
The breakfast was/is always of extremely good quality as it always is in Hotel du Vin hotels.
The room was larger than I had expected with a nice bathroom.
Breakfast was typical ‘cafe’ type food and, although it was cheap, wasn’t particularly good and the coffee hardly tasted of coffee and wasn’t as hot as it should have been.
When I next go to Cambridge, I will definitely choose a hotel that is closer to the town centre.
great location straight off the motorway. bed was very comfy, powerful and hot shower, lovely little garden outside me room for morning coffee. Easy self check in. Only 5 minutes drive into Cambridge the next morning, parking was free, and accommodation was at least £40 cheaper than other hotels I was looking at in the similar area
The hotel is perfectly situated, very easy to walk to/from the train station, and to/from the center of Cambridge. The property is very clean, the staff is really nice and friendly, helpful, perfect! The rooms are clean, well decorated. Very good value for money. The breakfast is nice, quick and easy.
Everything! The hotel is a bit outside of the centre but it is easily reachable by walking, by bus or by taxi. There is a big supermarket and bars next door. The rooms are large and functional. The personnel is very kind. Incredible value for money compared to Cambridge city centre!
The Sorrento Hotel was in an excellent location for a conference I attended in Cambridge. The staff were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The restaurant has an excellent menu, with a selection of fresh made, delicious, Italian pizza-over-baked pizzas. A great stay!
Stayed in the beautiful Gonville Hotel in Cambridge for our weeding anniversary. Excellent central location, wonderfully presented hotel, fabulous, comfortable room, great food and professional and friendly stay. Can't wait to go back.
The property was well equipped for our stay - and was very clean and comfortable. The art work in the property was really appropriate for a visit to Cambridge. And the lounge was very comfy. The host was also excellent.
Property was amazing in a new neighborhood by parks and schools. It is a developing neighborhood with a Grocery Store 50 yards from the hotel. It had 2 eateries nearby. We really enjoyed the one night we were there.
The location is close enough to Cambridge to get on the park and ride (after a short 12m drive). There’s a food court next door and the hotel does food too. They accommodated my requests too despite being fully booked.
Fabulous to be based at a Cambridge college, to be able to roam the campus, attend Evensong at the ancient chapel, have breakfast in the student dining hall. Perfect!
The staff are amazingly helpful and supportive. I faced an issue with my AC and they fixed it remotely, this doesn’t even happen in a five star hotel !
