Everything was perfect! The staff extremely nice and helpful, the food was very tasty, there was every day a different choice freshly cooked. The room was calm, clean and comfortable. The hotel is located directly on the beach and has a big beautiful garden with many different relaxing places to chose to spend the day. As an addition are cute bushbabies living in the garden :) we really enjoyed our stay very much and would go back again any time!

The hotel has a beautiful tropical garden, and a very nice and quiet beach near to it. The room was basic but comfortable, with nice view to the garden. The staff is really nice. I appreciate that I could stay longer in the room on my last day, as my flight was late in the evening, that helped a lot. It’s not a luxury hotel, but still a beautiful place to stay and relax. The area is quiet, so only come here, if you want to relax only.

I was at the resort 15-22 May 24 which was off peak season and it was perfect. I opted for full board so breakfast and dinner were included in the price of the stay. Breakfast was buffet that includes egg station (yay for custom omelet every morning) and always had fresh fruit among other things. Dinner during low occupancy was a menu with some options for starter, Main and dessert that changed from one day to the next. I thought this was a fun way to choose my dinner and customize my dining experience. When the hotel had more occupancy, dinner was a buffet with several different meal options. The food was always delicious! There is a mango, avocado, shrimp salad on the pool bar menu; you MUST try it. Resort offers free wifi that was strong and reliable throughout my stay. The staff was very responsive and always looking to ensure you were satisfied and had what you needed. I went to adjust one of the pool chairs and it ‘broke’ and there was a staff member there in 30 seconds to get me another chair. Francis worked most of the days of my stay and was so friendly and offered wonderful customer service. The hotel has a spa and I took full advantage! Michi is awesome, the prices were reasonable and I was able to make multiple appointments because it was quiet at the resort. There is a small gym on site but I chose to walk in the mornings; the road outside the resort is calm and people in the town are very friendly.

This is a very private boutiqe hotel, with just around 12 rooms - about 6 were occupied while we were there. It felt really private.
Breakfast is a la carte, with many options.
Staff was constantly cleaning and doing small fixes around the place. It was always stunning and spotless.

Pongwe is an isolated beach, at low tide the sea is very far away and, even at high tide, it is very shallow - you cannot swim. Kiwengwa beach, next door (10 minutes by car) is much better, more lively, with many shops and good hotels.

There is not much to do in the local area other than visit other hotel resorts. We did visit a local school to make a donation and I would advise bringing something with you to donate e.g notebooks, sweets, money

Small remote holiday village with the white sand beach but not having good beach maintenance (seaweed, some dirt on the beach). Little bit far from anything in Zanzibar (far from Stone city and airport, far from spectacular Nungwi and Paje beach). No bars, restaurants, shops and infrastructure outside the holiday resort due to remote location and low density of tourists.

At first sight you can say....what to do here ?....no shops, just some local fruits selling points, no crowded areas, less traffic than anywhere but more nature than anywhere around. It's exactly the opposite comparing with Paje. If you need a quiet, family friendly, uncrowded spot.....ask for Pongwe. And if you want to understand why I'm saying these....just go on Pongwe beach when low tide is there.

I did not visit Pongwe town.
I did not visit Pongwe town. I stayed in a luxury boutique hotel north of the town as I like a quiet holiday. The only problem was the tide leaving an unattractive expanse of muddy rocks. The hotel's pontoon helped with access to the sea when the tide was high.

The accommodation and restaurant in Weavers Lodge was outstanding and the beach was idyllic. The tide tends to be out until about 3pm (July/Aug stay) and there are some sharp rocks - if your feet are particularly fragile, water shoes are a good idea. We cycled to the next village - an enjoyable afternoon trip. Very friendly locals.
Pongwe Bay Resort was a perfect holiday location for us. Our room was big and cozy with balcony and view to the garden, staff was extremely helpful and friendly and the breakfast options were one of the best I’ve seen. Resort has its own wellness center and they also have variety of stuff for you to use (paddle boards, water shoes, snorkeling equipment, football, yoga mats etc). Whenever we wanted to ho sightseeing or travel around hotel organized a driver for us. Pool area was also perfect with sea view and nice breeze from the sea.
Don't hesitate to book this hotel wether you are a couple or travelling with children... If you like to be somewhere: that is more authentic than fancy, where you can walk and be barefoot on the whole property, where you are surrounded by a team that is kind and modest - clearly trying to give you the best experience possible. The room exceeded our expectations, way better than the photos would suggest. The new restaurant & bar: "The Club" is magical. Hope to be back soon.
We had the best week on holidays ever here! The staff went absolutely above and beyond - we already miss Yousef, beautiful Esther & Aysha. Everything that we wanted and asked for was made possible. The place has that unique Zanzibar feel & we really loved our room, our bed was so comfortable and the view spectacular. Our favourite was the daily change of menu - delicious and local food. We also loved the isolation and quietness of this hotel.
Amazing food.
Professional staff that treat you like a friend.
Very well designed & well maintained rooms and facilities.
A true tropical kind of relaxed vibe - surrounded by a jungle with a white sandy beach.
Very "boutique" as described - not too many people, each guest had his own little piece of heaven.
I participated in an amusing Maasai Tribe dance on a weekend dinner.
There was even a chill cat sleeping next to my room each day...
New, well-maintained, clean, nice pool, ocean right under your feet, very nice staff, Very affordable prices. A place for people who want silence, nothing more
Located somewhere... No entertainment, you can walk along the beach in 30 minutes to the place where there are 4 nice hotels where you can eat well, and there is also a hotel and restaurant of a small island. Check the prices before.... Not everyone will enjoy them
the location is marvelous
the staff are very professional in a friendly way
the food is yummy, you should try the special see food special platter and you can have a romantic dinner by the beach with roses and candles
they have a very delicious burger as well
you can do snorkeling at the hotel in their boat and you can book all the activities of Zanzibar from the hotel
I stayed as a single person for an overnight visit. It was the perfect size and space for what I needed. Very clean and comfortable. I originally booked a single, but was upgraded to a double. I think it would have definitely on the small side if I were sharing that space it another person, though. The hotel staff was very kind and accommodating.
Very good hotel with a very good location. It was perfect. Really the lodge rooms are extraordinary. The view on the waves is great. The food is very good, they renew the menu every day with fresh products. And the place is really beautiful. It was a very good stay. Ultra exotic, bravo!
The property has a delicious restaurant, nice staff, unique infrastructure, clean surroundings, easy access to the ocean/beach. Very quiet, calm. We were met by a young manager in charge, he was very nice and helpful at all times.
Our stay couldn’t get any smoother, hotel is cozy and clean, there is no crowd and no stress! Great place to relax, authentic pool, friendly staff, Frank showed us around and was very professional and always in a good mood -)
Very friendly staff and good food. Pool was a good alternative considering the sea was rocky and affected by low/high tide. Resort was clean and well shaded area with palm trees and beach baby.
The rooms were very clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make my stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Zanzibar!
The place is amazing. We needed a place to relax and this hotel was just such a place. Rooms fully equipped. Nothing is missing. We will definitely return to this hotel.
an unique experience all together .. one of the premier resort in Zanzibar..staffs are very very friendly.they welcome you in unique way which feels really overwhelming.
great food. The hotel staff was very nice and made sure to accommodate all our requests. The reef walk was awesome, and the massages are the best we have ever had.
