Great place to stay.
Not far from our accomadation we had great restaurants. Vietnamese/ Thai/Greek/ Italian and Indian all on one intersection and a German Bavarian 500 mtr walk as well.
The river walk is great and we bicycled the 20km bike track along main beach and the river.

We didn’t stay in Mackay, but chose to stay at the Dolphin Heads Resort about 10kms out of Mackay. A very picturesque beach, there is an amazing old pub on the headland with the most beautiful view. We had dinner at the Resort Restaurant, and a very comfortable, quiet and enjoyable one night stay at the Resort. Well priced and the staff were welcoming and friendly. We will indeed stay there again and recommend this place to all.

We didn't plan to stay at Mackay, it was the final stop of our road trip and that's where the airport was. Airport only 10 minutes' drive from centre of Mackay, where we stayed in a motel. Plenty of restaurants nearby. The Lagoon area is lovely and very quiet on a weekday when we were there. We walked the Lagoon trail which was pleasant but much longer than anticipated as not very clear signing after you had reached the bridge over the Pioneer River. We should have just taken Sydney Rd back to town but ended up along the river and at the ocean at Iluka Park. Then another 2km into town. Great shopping centre in middle of town. We visited Cape Hillsborough and stayed three nights as it was so awesome. Trails to walk, great beach, wildlife. We saw a goanna, lots of birds, smaller skinks and of course the kangaroos at dawn. Visited Sarina Sugar Shed, which was very interesting after passing all the cane fields.

On checking in, we were given a room on level 1, with no view. The street noise was almost unbearable. We requested a change and the staff kindly moved us to a river facing room. The view was lovely, but to be honest this accommodation is sold as river frontage. It is in actual fact a block away from the River with large buildings obscuring the view. The location is perfectly central though with great accessibility to shopping. We recommend that upon booking your accommodation, to ensure what type of room you will be placed into.

I did visit a beach don't know it's name.
I did visit a beach don't know it's name. Very clean and appealing lots of trees and some birds. It was low tide and sand which I walked out on right out into the ocean. The place was busy for a city but you can get around reasonably easy. Been here before. Marina great to see. Biotanic gardens worth seeing. City centre nice to walk around. Worth coming here for a look.

Beautiful city it would be a must to have a car to get around as it very spread out or be comfortable on public transport however then you would miss out on some great beaches or lookouts a car is highly recommended.
Our apartment was spacious and well furnished and kitchen was well stocked with cooking pans/ utensils: we loved the sea views from our 7th floor windows and patio and the location was nice and quiet and no problem getting around as we had a car, I imagine it would not be the best location if you were travelling with no vehicle as the hotel is fairly far from the city and any major convenience stores, the bed was comfortable and clean.the staff were friendly and helpful.would certainly book again if needed accommodation in Mackay.
We asked for a later check-out, it was no problem at all, without a charge..Undercover carparking. Great little deck with a view..The tea/coffee/sugar and milk very generous. We didn't realise it was self contained that was a good surprise. Sound proof, couldn't hear any outside noise. The bed was very comfy. We will be staying there on our trips to Mackay.
Near the airport, Coral Cay was easy to get to and in an ideal location. The hotel was stunning, surrounded by palm trees and a relaxing pool. The bed was so comfy (especially after 2 days of travelling from England) and the shower was so warm with high pressure. I would definitely stay here again! Thanks for having me, especially over the Easter weekend.
Our room was a one bedroom with separate bathroom and kitchenette. A balcony looked over the Mackay Harbour marina and the Mantra pools. A very nice view. The bathroom/toilet area was quite large for the total size of the unit. Furnishings were modern. The kitchenette was adequate to prepare a meal. WiFi was good.
Location is a bit out of town with the airport close by. But, the location to the beach is fantastic and just a short (100m) walk puts you on this long stretch of beach. Absolutely lovely. Unit was good with heaps of cooking equipment which actually worked.
Location was close to a great shopping centre, and the heart of town, lots of eateries & restaurants, we were on the wrong side of hotel for a view, but rooftop allowed us to look over the Pioneer River, Room was beautiful.
Property is clean and comfortable, good air condition. Has large tvs with Netflix capabilities. Great location as well close to service station and shamrock hotel. Always a first choice for us when we travel through Mackay
Great location. Relaxed quiet couple of days. Hundred percent better than the cheaper motels on Nebo Road. Well worth the 20 minute drive and the Eimeo Hotel 5 minutes away, but the little bar beside the pool is perfect.
All as you would expect from a quality corporate hotel. Good wifi and big tv. Magnifying mirror was nice to have in bathroom. Make time to visit murals in nearby alley. Bus to airport leaves from out the front of Hotel.
location, size of the room and amenities and decor. Even though the hotel is right next to the airport, the room was still really quiet and we could not hear anything at all from outside.
The location was excellent and the staff were wonderful and friendly. We regularly visit Mackay and will definitely be looking at making this our regular.
