The location was perfect for hiking in and around the area. The staff, the room, the evening meal and breakfast were all exceptional!
Amazing value for money.
The building itself with the backdrop of the mountains was truly breathtaking.
Highly recommended.

Cockermouth is a pretty town with many buildings of interest. Wordsworth's birthplace is there, but it is closed in winter.
The rivers Cocker and Derwent flow through the town with banks of daffodils in spring.
Plenty of small shops, restaurants and traditional pubs as well as two supermarkets.

We were here to visit a relative and have been several times before so know the area pretty well. Plenty of places to eat or Get a drink, (alcoholic or otherwise).
Supermarkets handily placed and lots of independent shops with a side range of goods.

A terrific little town, great local shops, interesting Wordsworth Museum. Pic of us dressing up in Museum! Good town centre parking. Lots of pubs and places to eat. There's even a theatre. The whole place is old but very interestingly pictureque. We will make a habit of coming back

Cockermouth has potential but is in need of more eateries, we stayed 3 nights and struggled to find anywhere nice for meals. The Bush is a lovely pub with good food but that's all we had to choose in the area.

Broughton Craggs is a few miles from Cockermouth and well...
Broughton Craggs is a few miles from Cockermouth and well placed for the Northern fringe of the Lake District. I was walking some of the English Coast Path from Bowness on Solway to St Bees and the location was fine for doing that stretch in bits.
The room was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed for a lovely night's stay. Very cosy living space with comfy sofa. The kitchen and bathroom were all new and nicely kept. The host was really nice and friendly too. The place is set in lovely and peaceful countryside, yet very easy to get to from the main roads. It's also perfect for dogs, as our dog is reactive to sounds in hotels/b&b's etc but as the walls are so thick and it's so quiet, he slept through without barking.
The property was in a fantastic location and the hotel itself has some wonderful views. The rooms and beds were in general comfortable, but the theme of country luxury and indulgence was somewhat spoilt by the use of budget hotel fittings (like cheap branded soap dispensers being affixed to the walls in the bathrooms and plastic shelving in the bedrooms). We left an item of clothing when we departed and the hotel were quick to advise us and arrange for its return which was appreciated.
The location was perfect. Have stayed in any hotels and accommodation in the area this is by far the best. Lot of the others the provided pictures flattered them with these the opposite they do not do them justice. So much space in the accommodation and the facilities were first rate. We opted the optional breakfast and glad we did the produce used were first rate. When next in the area will be my first choice (hopefully reviews like mine will not men it is fully booked)
The apartment was based in an excellent location in Cockermouth as I was here for a wedding weekend. Only a few minutes walk to the high street which had some lovely bars and restaurants. The apartment was really good value for money and parking which was free of charge. The host kept us updated throughout so we knew how to enter the facility and get WiFi access. I would stay at the property again on my next trip to the Lake District.
Beautiful building in a lovely quiet area with beautiful views, peacocks on the lawn, plenty of parking. The food was excellent home cooked and plenty of it, the girls we had waitressing on us on the two different nights were so friendly and helpful we believe they were sisters both a credit to the hotel. We would definitely stay again when in that part of the country.
very friendly and professional staff throughout the hotel, restaurant and breakfast excellent quality service and food, lovely gardens with seating available and an area to sit on the river edge and enjoy the sun, great location to explore Cockermouth and the surrounding areas. Rooms clean and comfortable with on site free car parking available.
Friendly staff and excellent welcome. Great restaurant with good choices on the menu and fantastic breakfast. The hotel is well located for exploring the local countryside. We first stayed here 41 years ago in 1983, we liked it then and still liked it. The hotel has been updated but still retains the charm it had all those years ago.
Beautiful decorated, charming, plenty of space in the garden, everything was properly functional, kitchen was well appointed, beds were comfortable. Appreciated the two separate living areas. The town is adorable and has some interesting places that are walkable. The grocery and restaurants were walkable, though the way is quite hilly.
Lovely double room, amazing cooked breakfast and welcoming hosts. A fabulous base for exploring Cockermouth and the Lake District. Buses to the Lakes from the main street are about a 6 min walk away, so super easy to get around. Highly recommended!
fabulous location, for visiting the area, and great location near the high street with lots of food and bars close by. great to have a parking space and dog friendly. host very helpful, and thoughtful touches were appreciated.
Lovely staff - helpful, friendly.
A couple of issues that couldn't be anticipated by hotel but were dealt with promptly and efficiently.
Very good meals. Comfortable room with plenty of space.
Would most definitely stay again.
Overall a fantastic place. Great location although it's a little bit out there from the core Lake District attractions. However, the scenic areas surrounding the location made up for the distance. Quaint little town!
We had the breakfast at Veeva's next to the hotel which was included with the price. The choice was excellent but my wife and I settled for scrambled eggs on toast and it was beautifully served with friendly staff
historic, large property, clean, fully equipped and a special treat delivered part way thru our stay! We used this as a base to hike/explore the Lake District and it worked beautifully.
Good breakfast in VeeVa cafe 20 yards away. Easy entry to hotel with numbered keypad for front door and bedroom. Well located for town facilities in lively Cockermouth.
Loved this Hotel the views and grounds, the room was fabulous and comfortable and the breakfast excellent. Really enjoyed my stay would return.
