Dalston village is beautiful, but Carlisle Town, what we saw of it was uninspiring and unattractive.
Lots of road works , confusing road systems and busy. Not a bit like the other lake district towns.
Perhaps we hadn't seen the best of it to be fair.

Quite an underrated town.
Quite an underrated town. The castle and cathedral are very interesting, plenty of history to see. I like it most because you can quite easily travel to fantastic locations from all directions; Hadrian's wall & Newcastle to the East, Ribblehead & the Lake district to the South, the scenic Cumbrian coast to the West & the Historic Southern lowlands of Scotland to the North!

Convenience as a base to visit more of Cumbria.
Convenience as a base to visit more of Cumbria. If like me you don't drive its good to have a base with plenty of public transport to enable you to see a variety of places. Carlisle itself is easy to walk round, everything within walking distance.

I love Carlisle!
I love Carlisle!
It’s a great town with good shopping, history and nightlife
The bars and restaurants are wonderful and it’s very friendly
There is plenty of parking, it’s compact and interesting
My favourites are The Thin White Duke for drinks/food and Bocata bar for live music, atmosphere and great drinks
Parking and checkin was a night mare arrived at 8 pm took a 15 minute drive to get to the rear of hotel parking. Waited 20 mins to be told to park at the rear Staff from faulty towers
Room bed a sponge windows just knock none stop
Door does the same even put a chair against it to try and stop it bar closes at 9.30 didn’t use it at all Oh and when I arrived coach full of children all
Running around reception think they had used the pool all in all awful place ibis is just down the road
The staff were amazing! I arrived around 8:30pm with a very large dog who was treated greatly! By the time I was settled in the room with bags, I was a tad late to place a food order, the staff were very helpful and placed an order for me... So thank you very much to them and the kitchen staff as I had traveled for nearly 10 hours with just some snacks! Hotel was lovely, great parking, entrance and room was great for the night too with carpet and a good bathroom and shower.
Everything was fabulous and above expectations. The host had added little extra touches in the room that made a difference and she went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed. Only stayed one night but would definitely rebook and stay for longer next time we are in Carlisle. Breakfast was superb and cooked to order. Hotel is
Within easy walking distance of the city
Centre but I’m a quiet road
In theory the location is good, close to the market area. Unfortunately it is located next to several clubs which operate late into the morning. I was there on a weeknight and the music didn’t stop until 2 am.
I would recommend the place if it wasn’t for the noise, but it’s the worst I have ever encountered at any hotel.
The hosts were wonderful and attentive. The view is exceptional. There is sufficient privacy and space from other huts. The hot tub is definitely a great bonus. We came by taxi from Carlisle, and it wasn't a problem finding the property, so that too is an option if not traveling by your own car.
Ideal location, excellent price plus free parking to rear and free wi-fi saves £20 per night. Comfortable beds, good shower, spotless clean and friendly, helpful staff. Train station and plenty of eateries on the doorstep. As a regular visitor to Carlisle this is my first choice of hotel.
Lovely hotel, fabulous staff can see why it’s a wedding venue. Great location for exploring surrounding areas, Carlisle approx 3 miles away and only a couple of junctions up the M6 to Gretna Green. Hotel grounds were amazing but didn’t get the chance to enjoy them due to torrential rain
The lady who did our check-in was just fantastic and really nice to talk. The breakfast was excellent and well cooked. The room was clean like a 5-star hotel and the bed was just really soft and cozy. I think it was the best stay I've ever had in the UK.
The breakfast is the morning was great. The host was very nice and accommodating.
I thought that the hotel was quiet and that the room was comfortable.
Safe are to walk around.
Short distance from the Sands Center and the Hadrian's Wall Path.
the hotel was in a great location. the rooms were terrific, and the staff were the friendliest and caring of all the places we stayed at during our 2-week trip. the restaurant had wonderful food and we'd do it all over again and again.
The staff and breakfast were absolutely lovely. Fantastic very pet friendly hotel at no extra cost.
Monty my 12 year old cat and I will definately be back.
Also literally 2 mins walk from train station as well as Carlisle centre.
Great hotel in the heart of Carlisle. Good parking at the hotel.
Easy check in and the rooms were comfortable and clean.
There was a great choice for breakfast from pastry to a full English. Dietary needs were catered for.
Highly recommend the Cumbria Park Hotel. Location was very close to the city centre where we could explore Carlisle Castle and museums. The staff where fantastic especially Jean who looked after us at breakfast time!
We have stayed here previously and the staff, food and rooms are reliably very good. The attractive hotel is in a great location close to all amenities. Carlisle city centre just 20 mins walk or a 5 minute drive.
Lovely new hotel, very stylish with attentive, pleasant staff. Beautiful room with 2 windows looking out onto rolling fields. The bathroom was a joy and the bed was very comfortable
